Death Metal and Metal in General getting super Main-stream?

Am I the only one who has noticed Metal getting super Main-stream?
It happened with “punk Rock” too!
it went from GG Allin to Metro Station…
Going from Death and Cattle Decapitation to Deadlock…
Am I going Crazy or is Music going down hill??
Everything just seems so Mass-produced these days…
I used to love Cradle of Filth..now you see all these 12 year old Hipster fags Rocking Cradle Shirts…enlighten me

This is a debatable idea. Sure, all music tends to move mainstream over time. Almost everything popular today was once underground. Metal has a large history of this. I personally don’t believe Death Metal will ever move completely mainstream, but even if it does, as always, as parts of the genre move mainstream, it will evolve and grow into something darker which the general public can’t stomach, at least for another couple decades. Death Metal started in the 80s, while the rest of the genre was completely mainstream and stuck in a kind of Hair Metal nightmare. It’s a natural progression for it to evolve and move mainstream overtime, then lash back and dive deeper underground. We just have to see where it goes next!
