Bonnaroo Music Festival Tickets – Bonnaroo Attracts Jam Bands and More
If Lollapalooza is the quintessential annual rock music festival and Coachella is the trendiest all-around annual music fest on the West Coast, then Bonnaroo is at the very least the most likely to draw in the best combination of live entertainment in the country. For four days every summer the sprawling rural town of Manchester, Tenn. comes alive with the hottest jam bands across the nation, and the music festival known as Bonnaroo leaves guitar-and-bass supertunes resonating through the rolling hills of the otherwise-quiet Tennessee town.
Bonnaroo, a music festival that started in 2002 as a place for jam bands Umphrey’s McGee, Phish, Widespread Panic and Grateful Dead to share the same stage, has been steadily rising in attendance and notoriety over the last decade, and 2010 promises no different from the Tennessee music festival. In fact, this year’s Bonnaroo headliners include everyone from Dave Matthews Band and Tenacious D to Weezer, the Dead Weather, Damian Marley, Kings of Leon, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z and more, signaling this anything-goes music festival is sure to be one for the history books with its ever-eclectic genres combining forces on the big stage.
From June 10-13, music lovers around the Midwest will migrate to a 700-acre farm 60 miles outside Nashville in the virtually unknown town of Manchester, Tenn., congregating around the Great Stage Park to catch an eclectic mixture of music and entertainment acts with one theme in common: the ability to rage. Jam bands are crucial to the ever-growing popularity of Bonnaroo, and this year’s festival is expanding even more, embracing the theme of comedy for an expanding niche of Bonnaroo-goers.
One red-hot act this year already selling <a href=”http://www.stubhub.com/bonnaroo-music-festival-tickets/”>Bonnaroo Music Festival tickets</a> isn’t even a musician, signaling the ever-evolving ways of Bonnaroo. Conan O’Brien, recently given the boot from NBC, has taken off on his Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour, and he’ll take his laugh-worthy comedy act to the Bonnaroo stage this summer to provide even more diversity to the Midwestern extravaganza.
Gary Bongiovanni, editor of Pollstar, recently spoke to Variety about the nature of Bonnaroo and its evolution over the last eight years, saying, “It started out as a jam-band festival, really, and they have broadened the musical reach. They keep jam-band music a significant part of it, because that’s all about the live music experience, and that’s going to bring your most hardcore live music fans out. But they’ve broadened it to include the more popular boomer acts as well as the hottest new genres, plus comedy and other things. It’s got something for everybody.”
Indeed, with 2010 Bonnaroo acts ranging from country stars such as Zac Brown Band and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to rappers like Jay-Z to indie favorites Phoenix, the xx and the Temper Trap to reggae groups such as Ozomatli and Damian Marley, this Tennessee blowout is sure to attract the masses for a weekend packed full of music, comedy and all other types of live entertainment housed within the same 700-acre premises. This year’s Bonnaroo Music Festival is expected to pull even bigger numbers than last year, prompting concertgoers to snag tickets from <a href=”http://www.stubhub.com/”>StubHub</a> well in advance of its June 10-13 dates.
