Classical Music Mood
classical/instrumental music?
if anyone knows any good classical/instrumental music that could represent moods could you please tell me them
The Vltava (or Die Moldau)by Smetana.
It is one of my favourite pieces since a friend bought it for me when I was 12!
It is a ‘tone poem’, describing, orchestrally, the tiny beginnings of a river, high up in the mountains, being joined by tributaries. The river gets bigger, and crashes over crags, and a huge waterfall. As it widens, flowing into the valley, it gently rolls past a peasant wedding party. It finally grows slow, but powerful as it meets, and is absorbed into, the sea. at the estuary.
As the music clearly paints the pictures, the mood is constantly changing.

Other pieces (in case you are looking for separate pieces for individual moods:
Warsaw Concerto by Richard Addinsell, for the film ‘Dangerous Moonlight’. It has gentle romance and menacing waves crashing.
The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams catures, perfectly, a hot summer’s day in fields of corn and the song of the lark, as it flies high above.
Claire de Lune by Debussy is the dark night sky and the pale moon amid the stars.
The Hebrides Overture Fingels Cave by Mendelssohn depicts the sea rushing around the Hebridean coast.
Peter and The Wolf by Prokofiev also has lots of moods, illustrating different animals and a young boy, who happen upon a wolf, who intends to prey on them!
John Williams’ guitar classics are also good. He has an album which includes The Deer Hunter, Spanish Dances, etc a very good selection of differing moods.
