Basic Music Rudiments
Question for people majoring in Music…?
If I have completed ALL of my theory requirements for the Royal Conservatory of Music (from Basic Rudiments all the way to Grade 5 Analysis which is the highest level in Theory and is NOT the theory equivalent to Grade 5 Piano!), can this count towards Music Theory credit at the University Level? Can I skip the theory courses? Thanks!
I have no idea how it works outside of the US, but most schools give you a placement test in theory and ear training to determine exactly which level you should take. Prior training usually doesn’t count for credit, though it WILL aid your skills in the placement testing, which will contribute to you testing out of a few courses or possibly exempting the entire theory/skills sequence.
